Coventry's latest 2-Tone plaque unveiled

Sep 14 2009

by Martin Bagot, Coventry Telegraph

CARIBBEAN dignitaries and soul singer Ray King were among those unveiling the latest plaque on Coventry’s 2-Tone Trail.

The High Commissioner for St Vincent and The Grenadines, Cenio Lewis, flew to the city to help unveil the seventh plaque at Artspace – formerly Holyhead Youth Club, where The Specials and others used to rehearse.

The unveiling was part of the celebrations marking 30 years of the city’s musical heritage.

Commissioner Cenio Lewis paid tribute to the positive effect the music had on race relations.

He said: “This is significant for what 2-Tone means to the people who come from the Caribbean in the area.

“It shows how music can be used to build community relations.
