“As a defender you want to be difficult to beat and concede as few goals as we can and that’s what we are doing lately.
"Unfortunately we haven’t been getting three points but at least we are not losing.”
And while both centre-backs are reasonably happy with the recent run of three successive draws, they know that they need to start winning a few as well.
McPake said of Saturday’s 1-1 draw: “Before the game it would have been a good point going down to Bristol which is a hard place to go, but when you are in the lead with seven minutes to go it is a pity we couldn’t hold on.
"The ball bobbled about in the box and then fell perfectly for David Clarkson who was never going to miss from there.
"It didn’t even bounce up to him or anything, it was just lying on the floor so it was easy for him.”
Asked if he would take another point against Forest tonight, Wood said: “No. We want to win because we have had too many draws now and we need to get three points.”
McPake, who will no doubt be looking for another memento to add to his collection, added: “It will be a tough game because they are flying but these are the games you look forward to and we are hopeful we can get three points at home.”
