Appreciation of Hidden Warwickshire features

Oct 18 2007

MAY I express my appreciation of the article by Lise Evans about Guy’s Cliffe and Piers Gaveston in the ‘Hidden Warwickshire’ series (October 3, 2007).

I would like your readers to know that the Leek Wootton History Group, Leek Wootton and Guy’s Cliffe Parish Council and others in the area are working towards this hidden historic site being made more accessible to the public, the Gaveston memorial being restored and the surrounding woodland cleared to enhance the setting.

Blacklow Hill is most picturesque at both snowdrop and bluebell time and it is our wish that this delightful spot may be made accessible to the general public despite its macabre history.

Paul Eldridge
Leek Wootton and Guy’s Cliffe Parish Council
