MY wife was visiting our daughter in the University Hospital at Walsgrave and had to pay £4.20 for parking as she fell into the two-to-four-hour slot.
This is just one visit and other people must be experiencing real hardship to meet these charges.
I object strongly to the principle of car park charges at hospitals, the unreasonable level of these particular fees and how they are banded, and the greed for profit which I believe is the motive of the PFI companies.
I strongly recommend buying out the PFI contracts back into public ownership and having central government provide Coventry PCT with the money required to pay specifically the PFI charges for the repayment of the hospital building cost, plus a further amount for excess repairs and maintenance charges.
If necessary, make an additional, identifiable increase in our income tax, exclusively to fund this action in all PFI areas.
