...I LOOK forward to my weekly copy of the Times and enjoy the historical features, such as Hidden Coventry and War Diaries. The latter always brings back memories for me because my parents lost their house in the bombings and we spent years moving around to relatives’ homes.
We had very little in the way of toys and holidays of course and I look at today’s children out shopping and eating with their parents and wonder if they realise how lucky they are.
However, I do not consider myself unlucky as we had a shared sense of community during those years of hardship which is absent in today’s materialistic world.
