DESPITE the concerns of some of society’s old fuddy-duddies, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Rev Charlotte Gale to St Mary Magdalene Church.
It pleases me greatly to see female vicars being appointed to the religious centres of our towns which have, until now, been wholly male dominated.
It seems strange that, in this day and age, there is still some opposition to women priests but then we have come to expect this over the years.
However, as time goes by, I am sure we will see the church become a female-dominated institution.
If that had happened centuries ago I am sure the world would be a better place.
