“By March next year the centre could be forced to
close because it is in a financially bad way,” he said.
“The council is struggling to keep up with the
maintenance of the centre and keep it running. It is not being used to its full
capacity and no money is being spent on upgrading.
“If the council can’t spend any more money on the
building, it would cease to operate and would close down.
“That’s when there will be uproar because the
OAPs use it, the mums and toddlers group use it and other small groups, such as
the kickboxing club, use it.”
Mr Ruddock has organised a public meeting and is
urging residents in the area to come together and save their local centre, or
face losing it by next year.
