Blaze of glory

Mar 10 2008

By Natalie Cox

I WAS lucky enough to see the Cassidy Coventry Blaze win the Elite League on Sunday at the Sky Dome Arena and it was a pleasure to watch the team lift the trophy and the atmosphere was amazing. It is brilliant to see at least one of the sporting teams in Coventry be successful.

I also witnessed the football team edge closer to safety thanks to a goal in the first half by Jay Tabb and again the team were a credit to themselves. Chris Coleman has now had five games to stamp his mark on the team and the team have gained seven points during this period out of a possible twenty-one. We have a hard run-in from now to the end of the season and because the league is so tight there are few teams with nothing to play for - either to gain promotion or avoid relegation so every game is now a cup final and every point crucial is we don't want to watch League One football next season.

The Sky Blue Trust has launched the Young Player of the Year Award. Supporters can have vote for who they think should win the award this season either at www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk, e-mail info@skybluetrust.co.uk or write to us Sky Blue Trust, PO Box 3336, Coventry, CV2 5YS. The nominations for the award are Leon Best, Callum Burgess, Ashley Cain, Neil Collett, Liam Davis, Liam Francis, Lee Hildreth, Ben Turner and Adam Walker. Past winners include Calum Davenport, Gary McSheffrey and the winner for the past two seasons - Isaac Osbourne. The winner will be presented with the trophy prior to the Wolves game on April 26.
