SO for the time being Coventry City Football Club has been saved from the threat of administration providing 90% of shareholders agree to transfer their shares over to SISU. How pertinent is it that they get 90% after all a majority of 50.5% is still a majority? If SISU do not get the 90% will they withdraw their offer and what will then happen to our beloved football club?
Far from questions being answered there are many more questions that come to mind under the new regime. If supporters are no longer shareholders who can attend AGMs and ask questions to the custodians of our club then we MUST ensure that our Supporters Trust can and does.
The only way those in charge will be made accountable to the lifeblood of the club is by the supporters asking the questions through a legally recognised, independent, democratic industrial provident society, step forward The Sky Blue Trust. Many criticisms have been levelled at the Trust, rightly or wrongly, however Supporters Trusts up and down the country do make a difference to the running of their club, why should Coventry be any different?
If we want to ensure that we, as a club, are never staring at the abyss again we need to make sure, in the absence of the Football League making directors accountable, that we are asking the right questions to the right people.
So while it is looking hopeful that the future is looking a lot brighter than last week, let us not forget where we have come from. The Sky Blue Trust is YOUR Trust it is needed now more than ever.
