Witness appeal as Bedworth shop staff threatened with knife in raid

Feb 10 2012

A MASKED robber armed with a knife forced staff at a shop in Bedworth to open the safe before fleeing with cash.

The incident happened at One Stop in Leicester Road at about 7.50am on Monday and saw a member of staff threatened by the robber as they stepped outside the back of the store. The worker was forced back inside and told to open the safe while the offender searched through bags belonging to staff.

The stolen money was in orange money capsules which he stuffed inside his jacket and pockets. Two money capsules were later recovered near to Jewsons builders.

Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time and may have seen a man hanging around the store. The robber was white, in his 20s and wearing a khaki balaclava with holes cut for the eyes, a khaki coloured hat, a blue jacket and jeans.

Officers also want to hear from anyone who has found any of the orange money capsules.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Constable Andrew Lea or Detective Constable Mick Duffy on 024 7664 1111, ext 3251.
