How green is the office?

Oct 30 2008

By Emma Ray

MOST office workers do not believe that the "small" green steps they take will make any difference to tackling global warming, according to new research.

A survey of more than 1,200 staff by recruitment firm Office Angels also found that only a third of UK offices have green policies in place.

But one in four firms have made moves to become greener in the past year, while companies are in creasingly appointing "green crusaders" among their staff.

Marketing workers are most likely to be involved in trying to save energy or recycle materials, while human resources departments showd apathy .

The survey found that workers now regularly try to prevent unnecessary printing of paper, make sure their computers are switched off overnight, recycle cans and paper.
