Nuneaton band in return to their college days for music video
Feb 10 2012
A ROCK band returned to the college where they all met to film and launch their very first music video.
Speaking in Shadows, consisting of five former schoolmates from King Edward VI College in Nuneaton, decided to return to their roots and get current students to play a major part in the production.
The band is made up of lead singer Adam Smith, who now teaches at the college part-time, Ali Carvell, Sam Powell and Grant and Lewis Sketchley, and they were joined by performing arts students Jordan Mistry and Stephanie Hammersley for the video for A Place to Hide Away.
Singing alongside Adam on the song is friend and former student Kayleigh Kendall, who also works at the college as an art technician, while budding photography student Alex Law documented the entire process from planning to filming.
The video tells the story of a broken-hearted couple struggling to cope with their separation and their lives are thrown into further turmoil as they endeavour to reunite.
Adam said: “We hoped in keeping the whole video local that we’d not only gain the support and encouragement of the community, but give them something back too.
“King Edward VI College, I think, for all of us, was the place where we grew and found ourselves and our passions and so we thought where better to film and release our first single.”
The band, who were formed in 2010 and released their self-produced debut album Standing at the Edge last year, perform regularly throughout the Midlands and recently won The Battle of the Bands competition at The Blue Bear, where they are now the resident band.
