Son pays tribute to Nuneaton mum dumped in car boot

Feb 3 2012

A SON’S touching tribute was paid at the funeral of Claire O’Connor whose body was found in the boot of a car in Nuneaton.

Daniel, 20, stood in front of a packed chapel at Heart of England Crematorium and said: “My mum was an amazing person.

“Not only was she my mum, she was my best friend.

“I loved her more than anything else in the world – more than life itself.”

Daniel was among the pall bearers as Claire’s white coffin was carried into the service to the song I’ll Be Missing You.

Relatives and friends – many in tears and carrying single roses – heard the Rev Adrian Mairs say: “Our lives are in sorrow because of the one we have lost in sudden circumstances.

“When love is abused, tragedy, pain and sorrow follow.”

He told how Claire was born 38 years ago in Ormskirk, Lancashire, and when she was a teenager moved with her parents, Pat and Graham Griffiths, and her two sisters to live in North Warwickshire.

She had been married, but divorced in 2001.

She and Daniel had lived in Church Road, Stockingford, for the past eight years and she had worked in the logistics industry.

Among the many floral tributes at the service was one in the shape of a heart from Daniel.

Donations were accepted for the RSPCA, to reflect Claire’s love for animals, and included on the order of service was a photograph of her swimming with a dolphin during a dream holiday to America.

Claire’s body was found in a parked Ford Focus car in Montana Walk 24 hours after she had attended a New Year’s Eve party at her local pub, The Green Bear.

A post mortem examination showed she had neck injuries.

Her boyfriend, Aaron Mann, 31, has been charged with her murder.

He has been remanded in custody pending an appearance at Coventry Crown Court on April 12.
