CHARLIE Strutton’s stunning double either side of half-time poured more cold water on the Greenbacks’ promotion campaign.
The hosts dominated but failed to take their chances – Richard Wesley heading over an empty net early on.
Strutton made the breakthrough on 36 minutes, racing down the left before cutting inside Ian Roper and curling an unstoppable shot past Tom Cross from the corner of the penalty area.
United huffed and puffed after the break but Mark Oliver saved from Mitchell Piggon, Nicky Pollard and Wesley. Strutton strode in from the left to hit a low shot past Cross from 20 yards.
n Bedworth held a minute’s silence prior to kick-off in memory of former striker Dave Pettipher who has died aged 48.
