Bedworth United boss is all smiles over form

Nov 25 2011

BEDWORTH United chief Steve Farmer continues to wear a smile after his side regained pole position in the table at the weekend with another solid, workmanlike display that proved too much for Marlow.

The 3-1 success was deserved and completed a hat-trick of away league triumphs for the Greenbacks, who are fast beginning to prove their early season endeavours were not just a flash in the pan for a club that’s endured its fair share of disappointing campaigns.

Farmer, in his rookie year as a manager at this level of non-league football, has galvanised the side and admits he is overjoyed with the quality and commitment his men have shown since the word go.

“We are learning all the time,” said the former Nuneaton Griff boss. “This is new to me and also many of the players but we’ve all adapted positively and it’s going better than expected. But I refuse to get over-confident or complacent.

“It’s a very long season and I’m just delighted for the club’s supporters that they have something to shout about. But we are at the top of the league because we deserve to be.”

United’s next task is at home to third-bottom Burnham on Saturday where a win would get Farmer to the magical 40 points, a target that Bedworth fans are normally looking to achieve by the end of March, let alone prior to December.
