YOUNGSTER Kieran Brehon made his full seasonal debut for Bedworth United in their 2-0 win at Daventry and his performance on Bank Holiday Monday had team boss Steve Farmer waxing lyrical.
The ex-Nuneaton Sunday League midfielder has had to sit through around 10 games on the subs’ bench but took his chance impressively as he put the Greenbacks on course for victory at Communications Park with a superb opening goal.
Farmer, who saw his side lose 3-1 at home to Northwood to end 2011 on a losing note, said: “He was outstanding in the first half and took his chance brilliantly. He played for Haunchwood in junior football but has the qualities to step up and be a very good player at this level if not higher.”
Farmer also praised striker Ashley Robinson, who returned to the starting line-up after a one-match suspension. His goal of the season contender doubled the lead at Daventry after he’d set up the first and – more importantly – he turned down an approach from Rushall Olympic.
Farmer said: “I’m delighted he’s decided to stay. It speaks volumes for Bedworth United that he wants to be part of this club’s future.”
