Double from Gardner helps Bedworth United net four
Dec 9 2011
AFC Hayes 2 Bedworth United 4
TWO goals from striker Matt Gardner helped Bedworth maintain the pressure on league leaders Slough.
But they had to endure a tense finale as the home side forced their way back into contention while the Greenbacks had skipper Ian Roper sent off.
Gardner’s 10th minute opener was followed by Mitchell Piggon rounding the keeper for his side’s second midway through the half.
Gardner netted again at the start of the second period before Matt Woods bagged a brace for Hayes to set-up a nail-biting end.
But with Roper in the dressing room, Bedworth saw out the game with Tom Bates netting a last-minute fourth.
