Nuneaton Town's games suffer again because of the big freeze

Feb 10 2012

NUNEATON Town’s away fixture at Halifax Town on Tuesday night was called off after a noon inspection at the Shay Ground.

After the top-six clash was called off on Saturday, the bid to get the Blue Square Bet North encounter played quickly was ended by a frozen playing surface.

Hopes were high earlier in the day when the sun shone in west Yorkshire but with the low temperatures, the odds were stacked against the game going ahead.

Boro secretary Ian Brown said: “The game will be rearranged for a Tuesday night in March as soon as both clubs agree.

“Supporters wishing to get refunds for tickets need to come into the club’s office with the ticket intact. Refunds will not be given for any damaged or defaced tickets.”

On Saturday, Boro are due to visit Stalybridge Celtic and with more bad weather due over the next few days, another blank weekend could be in the reckoning.

Another casualty of the wintry weather was Bedworth United’s top-of-the table tussle against St Neots at the Oval, where the snow-covered pitch was given the thumbs down in the morning.

Boro’s home game against Guiseley, set to take place on Monday but cancelled due to the latter being involved in a FA Trophy tie against Cambridge United, will now take place at The Triton Arena on Monday March 5.
