Disappointing result for Nuneaton RFC against Bromsgrove

Jan 13 2012

Bromsgrove 25 Nuneaton 8

A TRY early in the second half from Darren Forder was scant consolation for Nuneaton as they finished second best to their mid-table Midlands rivals.

The flanker capped a solid display by diving over from close range after the visitors had driven a maul to within a few metres of the line.

But the Nuns could not add to that try and a Lee Chapman penalty midway through the first half was their only other score of the game.

The first half was evenly contested, James Curgenven cancelling out Chapman’s penalty before a sweeping backs move saw Bromsgrove full-back Jon Critchlow score beneath the posts a minute before the break, the home side taking advantage of their extra man after centre Tim Douglas had been binned.

Forder’s try edged the visitors to within two points but Bromsgrove finished the stronger and tries from second row Phil Horton and winger Warren Oliver, together with a second Curgenven penalty and conversion, saw them home.
