THE ball may be the same shape but shouts of “touchdown” and “defence” will make it clear that rugby is not the only sport being played at Bedworth RFC next season.
The club have opened their doors to American football side Coventry Jets who will play their home games at Rectory Fields in 2012 and also use the floodlit training pitch.
The club’s commercial manager Alan Steel said: “The facilities at Bedworth are superb with huge changing rooms, a weights room, two bars and a huge function room all at our disposal.
“We are confident this is the first step in our club rebuilding process and we are sure all teams who are part of the Jets organisation will be delighted with this development. Hopefully Bedworth will be our home for many years to come.”
The move to Bedworth will see the Jets leave their current home of Pinley RFC and will also see them play a home game outside Coventry for the first time since 2007 when, enroute to the first of four consecutive National Championship games, they played at both Manor Park and Liberty Way in Nuneaton.
Adam Biggs, Jets’ general manager, said: “Pinley RFC were great hosts and on behalf of the Jets family I like to thank them for all the help they gave.
“However with the growing number of members covering cadet flag to senior kitted level within the organisation reaching more than 100, it made sense for us as a growing organisation to move to a better and larger facility.
“Bedworth RFC offers the Jets organisation excellent facilities that will help the club grow stronger for the future.
“All players and coaches are looking forward to working alongside Bedworth RFC for 2012 and beyond.”
