MAJESTIC Manor Park cut loose against strugglers Stoke Old Boys running in a staggering 15 tries. The visitors arrived at Heath End Road having lost all 11 of their league fixtures and Park ruthlessly exposed them with a bombardment of attacking rugby. Eleven of the tries came from Manor’s dynamic and exciting backs line-up, with both Adam Jardine and Darral Jukes claiming hat-tricks. However it was second row Paul Cart who opened the scoring, completing the formalities from a large overlap. Fly-half Dan Joyce was next over the line as he waltzed over untouched from close range and it was a day to remember for Joyce as he scored two tries and 11 conversions in his massive 32-point contribution. The four-try bonus point was secured inside 25 minutes with further scores from Simon Tunnicliffe and scrum-half Liam Rose. Each kick off punted back into play by the forlorn visitors were swallowed by the safe hands of Ian Finlay and Cart, giving the backs an unprecedented amount of ball. Flanker Dave Melville enjoy a fantastic afternoon with a perfect record at the line-out and assists for a handful of tries. The teams swapped halves with Park five tries to the good, but soon into the second-half Stoke struck back with a score of their own. After turning the ball over five metres from their own line, the ball squirted out the rear of the scrum and a quick-thinking flanker pounced to touch down. His performance may be remembered for his hat-trick, but Jardine’s afternoon also included a handful of assists as he picked a countless amount of excellent running lines. The visitors completely collapsed after their unconverted score, with Tunnicliffe and Joyce crossing over for their second scores apiece. Substitutes Chris Goode and Lee Critchlow both added scores and captain Matt Marston also burrowed over from close range. The bonus point gained, Manor’s sixth of the season, cements their fifth place position in Midlands 4 West (South), seven points ahead of Atherstone who they meet in a fortnight’s time. Next up for Park is a trip to bottom club Trinity Guild, who lie below Stoke due to a points deduction. n TOM Hill bagged himself a hat-trick as Manor Park’s 3rds compounded Stoke Old Boys’ miserable afternoon. The fixture was fulfilled as Park loaned the opposition no less than seven players from a squad swelled by the second team game’s cancellation. Jon Marsh weighed in with 16 points, coming from a try, three penalties and two conversions. James Everard bagged himself a brace of tries, and Gary Lakin also crossed the whitewash in this one sided affair which ended 45-3. |
