EVER WANTED to play your favourites songs handed down over the years through the age of rock?
Ever wanted to rock out like your favourite guitar heroes - Jimi Hendrix, Slash from Guns N Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Springsteen?
Some budding rockers, including Simone Burbridge pictured here, had the chance to get out and strum their stuff as they took on the competition at The Crew in Queens Road, Nuneaton.
But they werent playing to a packed out stadium filled with fans diving into mosh pits.
No, they were playing a Guitar Hero competition where they could play their favourite songs to varying levels of difficulty.
It is thought to be the first public Guitar Hero competition to be staged in Nuneaton.
Owner of The Crew, Richard Burlingham, said he hoped to continue the success of the first night and make it a regular occurrence.
Guitar Hero is a video game where people can play rock songs on a simplified electronic guitar which mirrors what happens on screen.
As coloured notes travel down the fret on screen, you play the coresponding coloured buttons on your guitar.
Play in tune and the on-screen audience - not to mention the live one - will go wild.
Hit some bum notes and youll soon be booed off stage.
The winner on the night was Emma Sales.
She triumphed by playing the incredibly difficult song One, by Metallica.
Richard said the night was very successful and said there may be scope to allow other games to be played at the next Guitar Hero night.
He said: The night went as anticipated, all the people who came along to participate really enjoyed it.
Theyd been asking to do something like this.
Everyone taking part put in a s1 and the winner took the lot, as well as a Guitar Hero T-shirt with winner on the back and some Crew paraphernalia.
The next event is on March 18 so get practicing.
The Tribune is looking forward to sending its own intrepid reporter, Ed Stilliard, down to the venue.
He aims to show off his skills by playing the herculean song Through The Fire And Flames by Dragon Force on the expert setting.
Or break his fingers in the process...
