PLANS have been unveiled for a new Tesco store in Coventry which will create 200 jobs.
The existing store at Cannon Park shopping centre would be flattened and replaced with a new super-store.
And in a second big jobs boost, a further 300 positions will be created following the announcement that Nationwide is to have a new customer care centre in the city.
It comes just a day after the Telegraph revealed Warwick University's plan to create 2,000 jobs.
The new Tesco would be built on stilts with car parking underneath and would form part of a facelift of the whole shopping centre, which is also owned by Tesco.
As part of the new development, which is subject to public consultations, property company Opal would also build new student accommodation on the site.
Tesco corporate affairs manager Tony Fletcher said: "We are very excited about proposals we have for Cannon Park.
"We are about to begin consulting with local residents - it is important that we are aware of what local people think and it also gives residents the opportunity to input into the proposals.
